Intel is known as one of the best chipset manufacturers for computers. Now, the company announces a new partnership with Arm to design mobile chipsets based on Arm CPU cores. According to the announcements, this partnership will move companies on to automotive, IoT, data center, aerospace, and government applications. Here are the details about the Intel and Arm partnership…
Intel and Arm will bring chip designers a powerful combination
While Arm chip designers can design their chipsets around Cortex CPU cores, they will be able to use Intel’s technologies for improved power and performance thanks to the new partnership. Intel Foundry Services (IFS) and Arm partnered to work together on mobile SoC designs using Intel’s 18A process technology. With this technology, chip designers will design chipsets with better power and performance.
Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Intel Corporation, said, “Intel’s collaboration with Arm will expand the market opportunity for IFS and open up new options and approaches for any fabless company that wants to access best-in-class CPU IP and the power of an open system foundry with leading-edge process technology.”
Then, CEO of Arm, Rene Haas, said, “As the demands for compute and efficiency become increasingly complex, our industry must innovate on many new levels. Arm’s collaboration with Intel enables IFS as a critical foundry partner for our customers as we deliver the next generation of world-changing products built on Arm.”
According to the official announcements, the new collaboration will bring a new way to the chipset market. It will enable a more balanced global supply chain for foundry customers working in mobile SoC design on Arm-based CPU cores.
